Age: 24 years
Nationality/Gender: Indian female.
Work Ex: 2 years with Accenture India as a software analyst since the last 2 years.
GMAT: 700
College: Jaypee University Of Information Technology
Major: Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science
GPA: 3.1
Year of graduation: 2012

Academics:
High School: 90%
Intermediate: 89%
B.tech : 81%
Gold medalist at school for academic excellence for continuous 6 years.

Extra-curricular:
National level swimmer
Social worker with an NGO for helping the under priveleged and uneducated kids.
Active participant in blood donation camps
Learnt French for 4 years.
Particpated and won many singing/dance/acting competitions throughout school and college.
Heading the Fun At Work team for my project to host team building activities and morale boosting activities for the employees.

Target Programs:
MBA, MIS

Plan to Apply in 2014 for admission in 2015.

Post MBA goal: To work in consulting.

P.S.- I will not be able too retake the GMAT.

Hey there,

Thanks for posting! I need a bit more info though. What do you DO for work? Have you led teams? Engagements? Deliverables? What kind of impact have you had? How do you rank compared to your peerset? What do you DO for the NGO? etc.

Hi Bhavik

I work as a software engineering analyst. I work in an IT outsourcing organisation- Accenture. I work on an ETL (extraction, transform, load) tool in a datawarehousing project. My domain is Data Analytics/Business Intelligence.

I have not led any teams or deliverables. In my organisation, one can lead a team only when they have at least 5+ years of experience. I have 2 years of work experience currently.

I have been given the rating A (2nd best, first is A+) as compared to my peerset and have just been promoted in 1 year.

For the NGO, my work includes teaching kids maths and computer science. I also help teaching married underprivileged women who did not get a chance to get an education due to their financial condition or an early marriage or family responsibilities. We help them get a degree so that they can find suitable jobs and support their family.

Hey there,

Thanks for the additional information! Based on what you've written, you should probably wait a year or so. If it's really as hierarchical as you say at work then you need to build up a solid leadership toolkit somehow. If that means leading things outside of work, do that. Or you can take on projects at work that may fall outside your core work responsibilities. You seem to be a strong performer and that's a trend you should keep going. But with only 2 years and not much in terms of impact or scope to speak of, you're just fundamentally lacking a set of experiences you can pull from to put together an engaging story.

Probably not what you wanted to hear - I understand that. But remember - you're one of THOUSANDS of IT female applicants. How are you going to stand out? Make sure you have an answer for that.

As for not retaking the GMAT - if you wait, you have time, so consider retaking it!
