First of all I want to say that this is a great forum!!!
It is so useful for the applicants and gives them tips, tricks and good hope for the application.
Back to my question.
Dear Linda, please help me.
My name is Kon, i am German, 25 years old and plan to apply for the 2006 intake of various MBA programs, including LBS, Kellogg, Wharton and INSEAD.
I speak 4 languages (german, french, english and mandarin chinese) fluently, GMAT of 700, have a first class bachelor of honours degree (business) form an english university(under the best 5%) and spend 2 years in China opening up a website in Shanghai (small business) with my partner.
The problem is:
To the time of my application, I will have no 'real' working experience.
I will have internships in my record( Lufthansa AirPlus in Germany and China and the german chamber of industry and commerce in Honkong)
Is that a weakness in my application that makes me have no chance at all at these universities???
Please give me an idea of my chances.

Kon,
You have some factors in your favor: You grades, nationality, international experience, GMAT, but I don't understand what you mean when you say you don't have real work experience. Did you support yourself running the web site in Shanghai? Or was it not paid and just a hobby? Also, why shouldn't your internships count as work experience?
I can tell you that the schools you listed above value work experience and they are more demanding in terms of work experience than schools like Stanford or Columbia. Perhaps if you want to apply now, it makes sense to apply to schools that require less in terms of work experience.
What do you want to do after your MBA? Have you considered working for a year before applying?

I will follow your advice and try to apply at Stanford and Columbia!!
I wil work hard on my application and try my best to get into a business school; waiting a year is not an option for me!!
The website in Shanghai was more than a hobby, it was hard work to get it where it is today! Yes, we supported ourselves in the first year!!
I don't want to say that internships will not count as work experience, but the b-schools will probably consider internschips lower quality work experience...what do you think!
