Oct 2011 to Present IT Operations Analyst
• Conceptualised and implemented the desktop transformation strategy for an energy services client; engineered the migration design while leading a 2-member team; presented recommendations to the client senior management, which ultimately reduced maintenance costs by $5million. Received an Individual Delivery Performance Award.
• Created a baseline plan for OS Migration for a $6 million Media and Entertainment Company based in UK. Evaluated the complexity and timeline required to perform the activity by collaborating with cross-functional teams. The proposal helped secure a new contract. Received an Individual Celebrity Performance Award from the Senior Project Manager.
• Supervised a 3-member team as Module Lead to integrate the migration work of 12 project teams and coordinate transition from legacy IT systems/enterprise applications to a customized platform for a large Australian Retail Bank. Thanks for your message. I enjoyed reading your profile and reviewed it similar to other candidates' profiles when I worked in admissions.
Overall, I think that the top 20 programs are going to challenging but not impossible. Here are my thoughts:
Your GMAT score of is a solid score and falls within the competitive range for some of the top 20 schools based on our experience last year. My concern is your GPA, which may/may not be balanced by your GMAT score. However, since the GPA is only one of six components that you will be evaluated on, it is by no means a "deal-breaker."
Also, I would recommend setting up a list of the top 20 schools and think about the location preference, the concentrations offered, the brand/reputation, campus town vs. big city environment, etc. You can review the US News & World Report for additional listings of business schools in the US, Europe, and Asia.
Regardless of the opinions you receive from online posts, please apply to the programs which attract you the most and do not underestimate the professional and academic background that you possess. I find that 90% of MBA candidates I have worked with tend to "opt-out" of a program's application process as they feel that they do not stand a chance. They do this before the school can even receive their application. Regardless of where you fall with your competition, let the program make the ultimate decision on your candidacy. Most candidates share with me how they are pleasantly surprised when they are accepted and never thought they stood a chance in top tier programs.
The worst thing that you can do is not apply. I feel that this is worse than receiving a rejection from any program. The best thing you can do is take your "best foot forward" and leave the decision to the schools. Please do not "opt-out" of your dream schools because you think you may not stand a chance. Being fearless is one of the greatest qualities of global leaders throughout history
