Hi,
I am looking forward to join in 2015-2017 class. Can anyone please evaluate my profile as per the details mentioned below:
Work Experience: I am an Indian IT male with 6+ year of experience. I work with an Indian IT service company as a quality assurance consultant ( Software Testing). I have worked for 2 years in UK for an UK based client. I have strong knowledge in Point of Sales and Retail domain.
Gmat: I have GMAT score of 690 ( Q: 50 , V:32 , IR: 8 , AWA: waiting for result ) (considering a retake - Suggestion requested)
Graduation: I am a Btech in computer science , CGPA : 86% ( I am not really aware how much that will be in US GPA Scale). I have relatively lower 10th(72%) and 12th(62%) Scores.
Extra Curriculars:
1.I am a member of Toastmasters international and I have participated in few Public Speech competition.
2.I used to be good at business quiz and I have particpated in some state and national level quizzes such as Tata Crucible. However I have not won any major competition.From last 1.5 years I am out of touch.
3.I have hosted many annual events in company (Both cultural and tech)
4.I believe in staying super fit. I am an avid runner and gym goer.
Entrepreneurship:
I belong to a business family.4 years back, I along with my younger brother have started a Kulfi (a Type of Indian Desert) company in my home city. The company is city's second largest Kulfi company. But If you convert the turnover in US dollar it is not big at all, 40-50K US dollars in annual revenue at max.
I have a working knowledge of how stock market works, stock analysis (including techical analysis) , company balance sheet analysis , stock treding and etc.
Certification: I dont have any crtification outside of technology landscape.

I am looking for a career change to Finance and work as an investment banker post MBA. I have always been very good with numbers and I believe IB is something I can do for the rest of my life. But I understand that I dont know much to showcase to convince adcom. Consulting is my backup option.
I am looking forward to get some input in following front:
1. A holistic evaluation of my Profile.
2. Evaluation of the choice of schools.
3. Suggestion on any other good school that I should consider.
4. Possible startegy on career switch.
5. Suggestion on retake. ( Specially because of the horribly low verbal score)

Your profile is good but also very typical of applicants in your pool, which makes it tremendously difficult to stand out. What seems to be missing is that "something extra," such as working abroad or leadership positions either at work or in your community. Schools want to see that you are making a real impact, and six years into your career, you will be held to a higher standard than applicants with only 3-4 years of work experience. You will be expected at your experience level, for example, to have direct reports and be in charge of a team or a division of workers, etc. (at least that's what your competition will have as evidence for their admission). You mention the GMAT, and I would definitely recommend you retake--not because it's a bad score, but because it will be low as compared to others with a similar profile. The "typical" Indian applicant majored in engineering or computer science, works in IT or family business, organized festivals, is a member of toastmasters, plays badminton or cricket and volunteers with NGOs. You want to be atypical. Try to think on ways your experience is different from everyone else in some way. Often, this means digging into your hobbies, community activities or family history.
As for schools, you should have a shot at your target schools. Also look at Midwestern schools which don't get as many international applicants (who tend to apply to east coast and west coast US). Texas A&M comes to mind as does Tepper. Also check out Temple's Fox School of business if you like East Coast US.
Now for the bad news....your career goals are going to be perceived as lofty because you are what's known in the industry as a "double switcher." This means you are switching not only your job function, but your industry as well--a tough sell for adcoms to be sure. You would be better off positioning yourself as a consultant since you have a background in it and it's also a field which soaks up about 35% of all MBA grads. This means you will be perceived as "employable" by the adcoms --a very good thing. Hope this helps and let us know if we can provide you assistance on your applications

I believe there is more to my work experience than I have mentioned in my above post. I have worked abroad for 2 years, 1 year in London and 1 year in Cardiff,UK.
In London I worked with one of the major retailers in UK. I worked with the client business head on a transformation programme. I owned the complete software testing and quality assurance deliverables( a team of 17-20 people). I was also responsible for the product demo. I proposed certain features,during the product development phase,have been implement and have gone live in the UK. These features have helped customer to save 5-7 seconds during the billing on each of their visit to the retail store.
In Cardiff I worked with one of the major steel maker in UK. I worked very closely with the client's IT director and VP. I worked with them on the planning , defining and implementing the overall programme strategy. I did received excellent feedback from them. I am sure I can get letter of reco from them.
I am also a part of my corporate CSR team. We have been working with the underprivileged children to improve education , living standard and career option.
Coming back to colleges, can you please confirm, which among the below schools I have a realistic chance. So that I focus and do a thorough research on those schools.
