Hi,
I am seeking advices about a potential NYU application.
- I am a 32 years old, European, and male.
- I grew up between France and Spain – native speaking in both languages. I am fluent in English. I have basic understanding of Italian.
- After high school (major ‘Science’), I studied Computer Science Engineering for 1 year. Not feeling in my element, I moved to study Business. I have a BSc from a middle tier French Business School (eq. 3.3 GPA) and an MSc from a Top3 European Business School (3.3 GPA).
- I worked 6 years in Finance between London and New York: 4.5 years of M&A at a Bulge Bracket American bank, and 1.5 year at a global leading Private Equity advisory firm.
- I have an international work experience made of many internships and of full times jobs: France, Spain, the UK, China, and the US.
Early last year, I wanted to study for the GMAT and apply to top American MBA programs. As I got sick, I decided to postpone that plan. Unfortunately, my illness worsened the last couple of months, therefore I had to step back from work to take care of my condition. I have been a bit better the past few weeks, therefore I tried to study as much as possible between my last hospital appointments, in order to meet, if possible, the 1st round deadlines this fall. I just took the GMAT (630 71th, Q44, V32). While I am not happy with it, this is as high as I could get right now given that, while my treatment is finishing, I still have recurring migraines preventing me to study at full potential.
I wanted to ask you if given my “advanced” age, my international background and international work experience, but most importantly my below average GMAT, it is worth trying to apply to NYU, either 1st round or 2nd round.
Many thanks for your guidance.
Best regards
