In general, I feel there is too much "noise" in your journey to be attractive to top schools only because there are simply too many others ni the finance field from your application pool who will not require nearly as much explaining in the application. Still, sometimes an interesting story can capture the attention of the adcoms. You definitely will not get an advantage from a master's degree, so your best bet is to try to get the best GMAT score you can, and work hard in the finance industry to impress your boss and achieve notable things in the workplace.

I see the point...

I was apprehensive regarding my application, with respect to my GPA. I am not sure how the Adcoms will view the gap year also?(Though It was productive for my interest in general...) But however what kept me "alive" was the fact that not many( close to none) from my college( NIT's) in general make it into investment banks at a direct shot and that too in a different country. However this holds as an exception to IIT students.

Keeping my hopes high that I can shoot at high GMAT keeping work ex at credible standings.

Once again my deepest thanks for all the help Bryant...
