I was hoping to get a quick evaluation of my shot at my target business schools. I graduated from a top 5 US engineering school with a GPA of 3.3 (GPA of 3.6 in my major with increasing GPA each semester over my 4 years). I have a GMAT of 710. I worked 6 months for an engineering consulting firm until i had the opportunity to move into finance (what i realized i really wanted to do during college and therefore took a few business courses for electives in college). I have worked for a small sized trading firm for 1.5 years now (2.5 years at time of matriculation). Ive taken on large amounts of responsiblity at the firm and have 2 individualts working below for the past 6 months. My goal is to move into investment banking at a bulge bracket and eventually to venture capital down the road, once i have gained experience in the investment banking world. I feel an MBA is necessary to fill my lack of business education and obtain the proper recruiting resources the top programs offer in order get in the door. My top 2 target schools are chicago and northwestern. Will my stats and story give me a good chance at acceptance to these schools for fall 2006? thank you.
