Thank you very much Sir for your evaluation.
I think this would help me a lot in understanding about my application with respect to an MBA Admission. Before concluding I would like to share with you some small facts regarding my movements so far. I hope that I am not consuming too much of your time by stating so.
1. As mentioned in my profile I actually interned( not exactly worked)at a couple of NGO( some international and some within India but having offices abroad). My partial reasoning while working with these NGO's was to obtain experience as a part of my extra curricular activity which was a little less in my profile other wise.( I was of the opinion that extra curricular had weight-age for MBA application). Also all of the NGO work had specific outcomes in terms of different social issues( Raising huge funds, redoing a neighborhood school, raising awareness about child rights through campaigns, envisioning people about environment protection, roping in investors for a micro-finance NGO etc) with sufficient media coverage.
The internship experience helped me catch up with particular skills related to pitching, fundraising, managing over people and on top of it an overall feel of how exactly this whole sector works in reality.
Coming to the point I have a side interest( an avocation to be more precise) to initiate a small start up in the non profit sector( This could either be online services or something different) which would benefit a larger part of the society. This can be some thing as small as as information portal website describing NGO activities and its updates and how people could become a part of it or maintaining an online fundraising website to something as big as setting up a small scale NGO itself.( I haven't exactly decided yet)
However I plan to keep this side by side along with my full time job, because this arises primarily from interest and passion in serving the society for a small cause. I needed some experience for this and that was why I committed some time with the NGOs.
Could you tell me is there a difficulty in keeping multiple interests, because my primary objective is to ascend upwards in the Investment Banking industry (I am really crazy about finance, which explains why the last NGO I was associated with was a micro finance NGO).
Would this be seen in the negative light with respect to the Adcoms?(Is this weird?)Can you suggest me something with respect to this ?
2. I have just started working and I hope to gather around 3 to 4 solid work experience before applying. Since I have a couple of years left I was contemplating that UC Berkeley extension courses would help me nullify my poor academic performance.
Just on a smaller note do you think that I should take up a part time MS finance course or a full time MS finance course in place of the UC Berkeley extension courses or would this chosen path( Extension courses with high GMAT) be sufficient for me to break into schools like MIT Sloan, Chicago Booth, Columbia.. etc).
I sincerely hope that you can address me on this issues as well before closing this topic.
