I am an aspiring applicant and planning on applying for b-school for either Fall 2006 or 2007. While I am preparing for my Gmat, I wanted to work on a group of schools that may interest me.
I was going through the Wall Street Journal;s guide to top B-schools and came across a portion of rankings in different adacemic disciplines. What I need some help with is what kind of career path would these academic disciplines lead to. Some of them are quite obvious while I wasn't sure of a few. I will list all below and make the ones I need some help in bold.
Accounting - accounting based jobs
General Management
Entrepreneurship - If you want to start your own
E-Commerce-dot com business management
Finance - investment banking, etc
Information Technology - IT related management
International Business
Operations Management
Marketing-marketing products and services
Quantitative Analysis
Strategy

I'm sorry but the answer to that question would require far more time than I can give it.
Furthermore, I think you are also going about this process a little backwards. First determine where you want to end up. Then explore the different routes to get there. For example, if you want to run a manufacturing enterprise, a school strong in operations management or in general management or in strategy, may all support your goals.
