You will need to leverage the heck out of your current consulting role so you can make the most of the next couple of years there and leave good impressions on your manager. Your target schools are the most difficult in the world to get into, and your applicant pool is the deepest in the world too. This is a dangerous combination when it comes to trying to stand out and get attention. There are hundreds of mining engineers from India who apply each year to schools with leadership skills and a high GMAT. Focus on doing things out of the ordinary, and if you can get some international experience, that will help as well. Basically anything you can do to break out of the "typical" category is beneficial. Focus on comparing yourself to someone else with the exact same profile and think of ways you can get engaged in life (work, community and personal) that will look different.
