Hello,
I am an Indian Male IT.
Profile:
- 4+ years experience in a leading IT Consultancy
- CGPA: 7.5/10 from a non-IIT/NIT
- GMAT- Not yet, hope for 720+ based on mocks(exam scheduled next week)
Nature of work: Although, IT field seems common, my experience is quite different here. I am working in a project with a major global client in healthcare domain. I have been involved with end to end support for many applications in the project, starting from interviewing candidates for my team (12 members), providing Technical and domain level trainings, documentation for project, conducting audits and other activities for FDA Inspections and submissions for scientists, business continuity plan and finally decommissioning of the application. Within 4 years I have managed to get 3 promotions. With global client base, I have been able to interact with various clients with different expectations and provide feasible solutions to be implemented. Its kind of an entrepreneurship inside a big company, where I had to deal with budget, resource allocation, data consolidation, etc.
Achievements: I have been appreciated for various leaderships in non-conventional fields like implementing Kanban principle in my team, which is still a great success. Also I have led many training sessions and contributed many knowledge articles for company database.
Extra-curricular:
- Poetry, published many poems, editor in school, college, hostel magazines; drafting my collection to be published, I blog
- Reader for blind students in colleges and recording text books in audio format( back then, their curriculum had not been transformed for Braille)
- Charity for Nepal earthquake and cloth donations for orphanages
Why MBA?
Working in consulting field, I have been able to streamline the implementation part in a project. What I strive to achieve the strategy part, how to plan, how to solve a problem and come up with the action points. With MBA I will be able to work in the strategy part of consulting. My long term goal is to see the yet larger picture. After 10-15 years of work, I would like to go for a PhD and stay in the research field(may be go for Faculty position). So consulting (management/IT) is my main aim for MBA.
Issues:
- I have to go for 1 year MBA and in 2016/17, due to unavoidable personal constraints. That leaves R2 for some and R1 in next cycle.
Questions:
- I am inclined toward EU and Asian schools. Which colleges would be good within this bracket? I see more of INSEAD, HEC and NUS in forums. Are these going to be stretch?
- Where can I improve to secure a scholarship? I have to go for a place where there is some financial assistance, even at the cost of ranking.
- Any suggestions? Where do I stand?
