Will i get Letter of Recommendation from previous Employer

Question

I resigned from the Company in July and is planning to give GMAT this month. Can i get Letter of Recommendation from the Previous Employer ? How many LORs are required from the company ?

Hi Aman,

You don't require an LOR from a company, but from an individual who has known you long enough to say good things about you.

If you have worked at your previous company for a reasonable length of time and have a previous supervisor who is willing to recommend you (you have worked under him for 6+ months), then go ahead and ask him for a recommendation. Infact he will probably be a better recommender as compared to someone in your present company, considering you have been here only since July.

Do ensure that he sends the recommendation from his official email address.

In addition to what is mentioned above, two letters of recommendation are required for most schools, although some require only one and a few require three. Are you planning to apply this year in round two?

How the Recommender will submit my LOR . Is he/she needs to submit through Official / personal mail or he/she needs to submit through Business School Online System.

Yes, most b-schools require that you use their online systems. A good way to figure this out would be to open your application at 2-3 of your target colleges and read through teh forms to understand the requirements

In thinking about letters of recommendation, you want to make sure you understand their experience in this front. If they have an MBA or they've done a few MBA LORs in the past that is a huge plus.
