Just did the GMAT today and got 760: IR 8 Q49 V44
I don't think I fit the normal b-school applicant: I studied Classics (Ancient Greek and Latin) at Cambridge and got a 2:1 (Not sure how that would translate into GPA). Then I worked for 18 months as a business analyst for the UK branch of an American bank and then was poached by a former college to work at a rival (should I say that on application? I think it says good things about me but it's kinda trivial) for whom I've worked since (18 months but was promoted 10 months in).
I really want to go to California as from miserable wet and cold England it seems like Heaven. What do people reckon the best school I could get into is? Stanford? Berkeley or UCLA? My family all want me to try for Harvard as it's the only AmericanWho would give business school people over here have heard of, does my situation seem reasonable?
I don't have a lot of extra curricular on my books, I've done some stuff like tutor maths and Latin and volunteer at homeless shelters but it seems a bit shabby compared to other people's start ups etc.
Can anyone recommend a consultant? Are they super expensive, so far this process has cost $300 for the exam and I think applications to each individual school are also pretty pricey. (although I suppose if the consultant gets me in then that should pay for it self)
Thanks,
