I am looking to apply next fall and enroll in 2017. I am mainly looking for feedback on what I can do in the next ~10 months or so to really round out my application, and also which other schools I should look into based on my profile, as well as which ones are a long shot.
Background: Field Sales and Sales Operations at a major CPG. It is a big recruiter at all the top b schools, but does not send many applicants.
It's a sales leadership program, and I was promoted from a sales operations an analytics role to a field sales role after 1 year.
Extra - Curricular: started a packaged food company that wasn't successful, but was able to design a product, packaging and got on some shelves of specialty grocery stores.
Traveled to China to study organic food production, lots of undergrad course work was on food justice and food policy.
Also worked w non profits for teaching underprivileged kids better nutrition and eating habits
Undergrad School: Top 10 liberal arts college (Williams, Pomona, Bowdoin)
Race and Gender: 23 year old Asian Male (American)
STATS: Undergrad GPA 3.78 in Political Science GMAT: 760 48Q 47V
MBA Info: I either want to transition into brand marketing for a CPG or be a consultant and work on food/bev and agricultural business.
Target schools: HBS, GSB, Kellogg, Tuck, Ross and YOM
I know my raw stats put me in line w all the schools. However my main concern is that I don't have the most prestigious job at the moment, (it's a really well know company, but not not MBB or tech) and I also will not have any management experience by matriculating. Also, while I am confident I will have solid letters of recommendation l, they won't be from people w MBAs or in very high positions. Finally, I know I am on the younger side, but I am confident I can explain the "why now" aspect of why I want an MBA and can articulate that more experience won't necessarily change my career goals.
Any suggestions on my story, odds to get into target schools and advice on how to better fill out my profile over the next year would be very much appreciated.
Thanks for all your help.
