Hi-
I am currently looking into schools to apply to.
-I am a Korean-American female, 25 years old
-I have a 3.17 GPA from the University of California San Diego B.S in Management Science.
-GMAT 700 93% (Q49 90%, V36 81%) AWA 6.0 96%
I have four years of work experience:
1 year as an Assistant Buyer for a major pet food supply chain. I was in charge of all aspects of merchandising including marketing, advertising, product placement, pricing, new products, vendor relations...
2.5 years as a research analyst (promoted to Senior Research Analyst) at a commercial real estate research company.
I was in charge of market research of a particular city. I provided clients information on market activity, wrote news articles and quarterly reports, also involved in sales of our products....
6 months as a Business Development Manager of a clothing boutiqe in South Korea.
I dont have much volunteer activies. I am a cofounder of a entrepreneur club at UCSD and was an officer for the Asian American club but I havent done much since I graduated college.
I am interested in a MBA program in international business. It is a bit of a change in career for me but something I have been interesting in for some time.
I have never been in finance, engineering or consulting like most people who are applying to MBA programs so this worries me a bit. What are my chances of getting into the following schools?
UC Berkeley
UCLA
USC
University of Michigan
NYU?
I am also considering:
Univ. of Hawaii Manoa
Univeristy of San Diego
Forham University.
Please advise.

If I were you, I actually wouldn't worry too much about your not having a "typical" ebgineering/consulting/finance background. Many applicants think that the trick is to "blend in" with the crowd and look like you belong at b-school, but I encourage you to take almost the completely opposite approach! Yes, you do need to show that you have the mental horsepower some relevant experience, but I think you can already show this.
Someone who has worked in real estate, supply chain, and international retail has a lot of unique experiences to talk about. Use these to your advantage!
I do wish that you had some more hobbies/activities since college to talk about. The fact that you started the club in college is great, though. Try to use this to show your initiative and leadership abilities. The other slight weakness in your app is your undergard GPA (a little low by some standards), but you can overcome this with your GMAT score and demonstrating that you'll be serious about your academics in b-school.
I think that any of your target schools is reasonable for you. Put another way, I do think that you're competitive enough to get into at least one top-20 school. So, stay focused on those.
I would like to know more about your desire to get an international MBA. Your career goals will obviously affect your choice of school, and your chances of getting in. The more focused and realistic, the better!
