Hi!
I would appreciate if you good folks could provide your views on my profile.
Scored
68% aggregate in Mechanical Engineering (unofficially top 10 percentile in class)
GMAT: 690 (Q48, V38) IR 5 AWA 5.0 (Aug 2014, could try for a better score if it would help my case)
Boring:
Male, Indian, working in IT (at a Bank) & little to no extra curricular since college.
Interesting:
Good overseas experience working with commercial banks in: SE Asia, UK, Singapore & UAE.
Confusing:
I graduated in 2004. In my
mid thirties now, I have
12 years of wonderful experience in Banking IT Systems.
My Story:
Studied in a great high school and did very well in academics and co-curricular activities. I ended up as the School Captain (Head Boy) in my high school year.
Unfortunately, my family fell on bad times. I ended my up in a mediocre University where I continued to do academically well. As I had to support my family after graduation I could not plan for a MBA.
I got a job with an IT services major in India. Worked for 8 years, implementing core banking systems in Europe and Asia. Moved to Singapore to work with a large bank in their IT division for about 2 years. I am currently working in UAE for the last 2 years with a large regional bank.
I was hand picked for the bank's Innovation Lab. I am managing delivery of projects involving new technologies. I am however, part of lower management. I am not positive of growing in my current organisation, due the culture of not promoting internally. I would eventually have to move in about a year or two.
I am financially stable now. I feel MBA at this stage of my career would help me jump into mid/upper management of banking IT. I am strongly thinking about doing a full time MBA at Insead, IMD, ISB or other suitable one year program.
I am looking forward for your advice, suggestions and comments.
