Hi,
I'm looking for some guidance on whether i should retake my GMAT. Below are my details:
Age 26, Indian, Male
GMAT - 710 (Q 48, V 40), IR 5, AWA 6
WE - 5.5 years, Senior Consultant at Deloitte - specialising in indirect taxes within the EU. Currently managing a team of 12 people.
I plan on applying for the 2017 programs (september intake) of HEC, IESE, IE and INSEAD - i'd like to move to management consulting post my MBA and from what i've read, these schools would help me do so.
Would the GMAT score i have right now suffice? My main point of concern is a low GPA (7/10) during my undergrad and the average IR from my GMAT. Would these be a sticking point in my application or could they be explained via the optional essay? With regards to extra-curricular activities, i was part of the football team during my undergrad, and still do play on a regular basis.
Taking into account the above, would my current GMAT score suffice?

If you are confident that there is good chance of improving your GMAT score by 20-30 points, seriously consider retaking as boosting your score would help your chances. As you are from a very competitive pool and looking for consulting jobs, a higher GMAT score would help distinguish you from the crowd. It would also help address your GPA concerns. You may write an optional essay to explain further but a GMAT score that is higher than the school's average would greatly show your academic potential.
