Indian, Male, 30 Years Old
Work Experience 9 years.
Currently working as Associate in commodities trading for a major Prop Trading Group.
Responsibilities right now:
Trade for the prop account of the firm.
Manage a group of traders.
Help formulate growth strategies in Base Metals sub group for the company.
Accomplishments at work:
Started as a junior trader and progressed to become an Associate.
Got promoted four times in nine years. On an average people get promoted thrice in our organization in nine years.
Cleared all three levels of the CFA program.
Identified several growth areas for the company over the years.
Managed a successful group of employees.
Trained a group of fifty employees in our China Office.
Was in top 10% of employees in terms of performance over a period of nine years.
Extra curricular
Teach underprivileged kids MATH and SCIENCE at home on weekends for free. Improved school scores by 8-26 percentage points for various kids. Taught about 25 kids till date.
Why MBA now:-
I feel data would have a huge impact on the way Finance works in the next few years. Banking industry would change in the way it works. I feel a lot of opportunities would come up in this particular segment. I wish to switch my carrier path by making a move into Finance + Data Analytics roles. Reason for and MBA and MS data Analytics : MBA provides more opportunity to network and offers wider array of opportunities than MS.

Your experience would provide an interesting mix of materials, including economic and geopolitical analysis, quantitative analysis, leading teams, and managing organizations. These should be rich sources of essay materials that would help distinguish your application.
Your Verbal score on the GMAT is a bit lower than the average at your target schools, so consider retaking if you are confident that you can improve on this with some more preparation, as a higher score could strengthen your chances
Regarding your post MBA goals, it would help to articulate how realistic your planned career change is by explaining how your background can be leveraged, and how the MBA would help into your targeted roles.

Do you think my experience would compensate for my weak GMAT performance? I know it is very hard to give a definite answer to this question, but given the quantitative nature of the roles I wish to fit in, is my GMAT score OK?
Some times, I feel I hit a plateau in my GMAT scores.
