Hi,

Would appreciate if you could review my profile and suggest few business schools for MBA 2017 (R1).

1) Demographic info:
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Nationality : Indian

2) Educational Background:
Undergrad Major : B.Tech ( Computer Science & Engineering)
GMAT SCORE : 610 (Q47 V 27 IR 5)
UnderGrad School : Vellore Institute of Technology
CGPA : 3.4/4

3) Work experience:
  • Total work experience : 3 years of Startup work experience ( 2 years Full time + 1 year Part time) (B2B + B2C)
  • Currently, running my own startup Dressprise www[dot]dressprise[dot]com (an e-commerce platform to nurture relationships by adding surprises in one's life). Good traction so far.
  • Prior to this, Head of Digital Marketing at Vibrant ( SAAS Startup) for 6 months.
  • Head of Digital Marketing at LetsVenture (Startup - an online platform to connect investors & startups globally) for 1.5 years.
  • Digital Marketing Intern at Wooqer (Startup - B2B) for 6 months
  • Market & Content research associate (freelancer) at Coursebuffet for 1 year

4) Extracurricular:
  • Recognized as a young app developer by Business Today
  • Founded Windows Squad - Windows club at VIT University which rose from 0 to 210 members in a year (2013-2014).
  • Post-graduate Kathak Dancer

Could you please suggest few good B-Schools where I can apply and have the probability of selection as per my experience?

Age: 25 Being female in this pool will get you a closer look, the 3 yrs work is still on the light side but can be enough if you can demonstrate impact.
Gender: Female
Nationality : Indian

2) Educational Background:
Undergrad Major : B.Tech ( Computer Science & Engineering)
GMAT SCORE : 610 (Q47 V 27 IR 5)This GMAT score is pretty far off the avgs at most top 25 schools and you are in a pool that tends to overdeliver on the Avg score. I'd recommend taking again with a focus on improving verbal- this could really make a big difference.

Good to have some startup- but also good if you can show progression/promotion some where.

Could you please suggest few good B-Schools where I can apply and have the probability of selection as per my experience?I'd say right now you might target top 30-50 programs and it is hard to be more specific because you are not stating your post MBA career goals. Do you want a school with hands on experiential learning? Do you want to stay in marketing? Do you have a target post MBA company? Because to really suggest a school that "fits" you need to answer those kinds of questions first. I'd suggest doing another GMAT review on verbal, and then being honest about your post MBA goals. We do this kind of introspection exercise with our clients and if you'd like a free consult to see what kinds of value we provide to our clients- go to our website at StratusPrep.com. I see the building blocks that could be the start of a successful application but I don't know enough yet to tell you a specific school except that I would look in the 30-50 school range unless your GMAT improves. I think for many of those still strong programs, you can reach your post MBA goals. But it is hard work to research the schools and to set those goals and that is work only you can do- except that if you want guidance we can provide a sounding board and help you think through a plan for how to get there.
