Hey all,
I'm curious as to where you think would be a good fit for me based on my profile:
Ethnicity: 28 Caucasian Male USA
Undergrad: Regional military public college, 3.1 overall GPA and 3.5 major GPA. BS in Business Admin
Undergrad Leadership/Activities: Led ~100 peers both Junior and Senior year, Elected to class board, 2-3 clubs
Law School: Top 100 law school, mediocre GPA ~2.5
Law School leadership/honors: Elected school (600 students) treasurer second year and president third year, started charity for fellow student's medical bills after he put in coma after a car wreck, law school honor society (~15% of students- they ignored my GPA), Inn of court (~5% of students- only leaders or top 3 GPA holders), volunteered doing tax returns for elderly/indigent for two years, 2-3 clubs
WE: Law practice for two years - one clerking for a judges and second on complex document review. 1 year as a financial advisor for F100 company (Morgan Stanley, Merrill). Finally currently working as a strategy analyst at Big 4. Will be in this role when enroll in MBA.. Just started last month
Other Ventures: Co-founded real estate renovation and rental company one year ago. Gross profits year 1 - $250k
EC: Volunteer for school fundraiser every year, help run an alumni fraternity group's charitable wing, Harvest Hope every 2-3 months, just started this month volunteering at Ronald McDonald house for 2 hour shift weekly
Explanation: I had no idea what I wanted to do after undergrad so I went in the "family business." Didn't want to quit law even though I didn't enjoy it. Originally went to law school because thought it'd be equivalent to an MBA (was I wrong or what). Finally left law and more towards business and was happier. Realized I want leadership opportunities eventually, which is why I left financial advising. Started as a strategy analyst at Big 4 because I want to get into strategy consulting and I feel like this is the way to show how serious I am about this career path.
GMAT: 710 (46Q/41V) Based on prac exams- 1.5 months out from exam date
Essays will likely be above average and average recommendendations
Target schools: Darden, Duke (1st preference), UNC, Georgetown, Emory, Vanderbilt
Any schools I should target that aren't on here? Are these reaches? I realize I have to explain my story since it is unusual between job switching and law school, but I'm confident my essays will be persuasive.
Thanks so much for any and all insight!
