Hello,
Can anyone let me know my chances at the following schools for my profile or suggest some schools for
the experience I have. I am not interested in the part time executive MBA programs and MBA programs
with a cohort of less than 5 years of Average work experience.
• GMAT 660 (q43 /v38/IR2/AWA4.0) – I still cannot digest my quant score
• Why MBA? To be frank I do not have any clarity. Let me take a stab at it
• 10th - Tamil Nadu Matric- 92.4%
• 12th – Tamil Nadu HSC -95.6%
• B.Tech (Hons)-Electrical Eng From a NIT - 7.59/10 (CGPA)
• Total years of experience – 9 Years and 9 months (11 years when I start college)
• Companies worked for
• Current Job title – Technical Manager and have lead and managed small teams
• Nature of work experience
• Career Progression
• Notable Career Features
• International Experience
• Extra-curricular : (Don’t know if these even matter)

Basically the sort of it is that your profile is overall good (although you may fit a bit better in European programs do to your age) but your GMAT could be better. My main advice to you (esp. since you seem to be disappointed in your GMAT and confident that you can do better) is for you to study really friggin hard and retake by end of September. This will leave you all of round 2 to do your applications. And likely give you the best possible chances.

Your recognitions at work and international exposure can help give you an edge. For the "Why MBA?" question, you need to identify specific skills and benefit you want to gain, do further research on your target schools, post-MBA jobs, and reflect so that you can articulate this clearly. As an older candidate, you will be expected to be more focused on what you want to do post-MBA.
It is good you have identified the learning styles and environment that suits you, so match this with your target schools, and demonstrate your keen interest and familiarity through the essays. Networking with alumni, attending MBA talks, and learning more about the programs will he helpful.
If you feel that you could easily do better on the GMAT, seriously consider retaking as it will also help your chances.
