Re-Applicant queries

Question

Hello

I am an MBA aspirant. I wish to apply for B-School admissions this year.

I had applied for certain B-schools last year with a Score of 700 (Q50, V32) and a 4 years work experience. I had received 6-7 interview invites. I was not able to convert them into a successful admit last year.
I wish to reapply to those B-Schools and certain others this year with a same score but an improved profile. Can you help me understanding the procedure of re-applying to a bschool?

I have certain questions for the same ...
a) Do i need to email the admission committee at prior that am a re-applicant ?
b) Do i need to repay the application fee and resend the scores to those B schools?
c) Do i need to re-write the application essays or just a re-application essay?
d) What if i apply as a new applicant to the same schools these year?
e) Do I have a chance as a re-applicant to these schools?

Yes! If you got an interview you were in the running. Many schools do accept re-applicants! Don't think this means you can't get it. Not all schools treat re-applicants the same way, so in order to give you advice on this, we really would need to know what the schools in question are. However, you can also find out quite a lot about a specific schools’ view on re-applicants by searching here on the forum or on Google. So my advice would be to check each of the schools you are interested in separately.

Hi,

To answer question (e), you’ve to show how your candidature has improved in the last one year. Professionally, you may or may not have a formal promotion or increase in responsibilities in the short time period (if you do have them, then of course mention them), but if you’ve handled more complex projects, leadership roles, or the like in the last one year, talk about them in your application.

And if you find it challenging to show an improvement (it happens, because one year is short), it’s prudent to include few new schools in your target list.

c) Do i need to re-write the application essays or just a re-application essay?follow the school's rules, they can differ
d) What if i apply as a new applicant to the same schools these year? that is something you cannot do, most applications will ask you
e) Do I have a chance as a re-applicant to these schools? Sure, but it is up to you to show your improvement and convince them why they should accept you this year
