So through a friend of a friend I know a Kellogg alumni who is active in the alumni association. I ask him for any pointers on the interviews and what not and he responded saying "send me her email and I will reach out".
That's probably a bad idea isn't it? I don't know what he'd plan to say yet but imagine it's just his vote of confidence/stamp of approval. Wanted to get some input on this from you all first though. Should I just tell me I appreciate the offer but not sure how she would feel about it and want to play it safe?
[color=#0000ff]First of all that's great that you have some insights from knowing people in your extended network who are Kellogg alums. I would certainly respond back- and perhaps say something like I am so appreciative of any insights, but I certainly would not want to put the interviewer in an awkward position for my interview in thinking that I had some kind of unfair insiders advantage. Once that was said, I might go ahead and give the contact the name making it clear that I did not expect any special treatment. It is a good sign that the alum contact you have must be impressed with your background and may want to advocate for you to consider Kellogg. Alums want good candidates to go to their school. So I would not overthink this or think that the alumni interviewer is not going to evaluate you on what happens in the interview itself. I used to do alum interviews for Kellogg and I have complete respect for the integrity of the process.
I'd definitely stay in touch with the new Kellogg contact and let this person help you better understand the school and trust that the process will be fair and that it is always good to learn more about a school from an alum!
Good luck with your interview!
