Hi,
I am currently working with a Fortune 5th company for the past 4 years.
As I could not see any growth opportunity in the near future within this company, I am planning to move on.
Recently, I got an offer letter from a Start up company(India) whose head quarter is at Chicago.
They are offering me a great package (more than 50% hike) and a better profile (Technical Leader Profile).
My current profile is just a software engineer. Although I do play the role of a leader within my organisation, my profile doesn't say so.
My questions are
1. If I leave my current company and join a small company, would it impact my admission chances?
2. As I am planning to apply in R1 this year, joining a new company at this point of time won't allow me to take LORs from the new employer. So, would this also impact my chances?
To clear, I am from the MOST over represented demographic area.
Please provide your inputs and feel free to ask any questions.
P.S: I have to take a decision soon, so I am seeking expert advice on the same.

My man - I would say you do what excites you.
I know this sounds ideallic BS - but think of it this way - the MBA is a short 2 years in a much larger (yet cosmically miniscule) 70 years of your life.
While changing jobs just before your apps is not great - i think if the right reasons are demonstrated, it may work!
On another note, a startup may be more dependent on you than a FOrtune 5 company - so if you leave a year later - will they be ok with it?
If you can demonstrate that the new company know you'll leave in 12 months - or that you will return to this company to do XYZ - that's another angle.
Hope you are now thoroughly confused!

Obviously I am not gonna tell any company about my MBA plans unless I have something in hand.
But what's next is still an open question.
