Hi everyone,
I am interested in pursuing an MBA in Canada, US or Europe. I am wondering if I would be a strong candidate at top tier schools and have any chance at a full scholarship.
Also, any suggestions on what I can do in the next year or so to better my application.
Here are my stats and info:
- Background and Nationality: Indian origin but a Canadian citizen (lived in Canada for most of my life and all my education has been completed here).
- Education: BSc (last 2 years GPA: 3.86/4.0); MSc (GPA: 3.95/4.0), PMP
- Work Experience: 3 years full time work experience in healthcare/R&D/project management
- Publications and Research: 2 papers published in peer reviewed journals, 8 talks and presentations at national and international conferences
- Volunteer Experience and Extracurriculars: There is a very long list of stuff I did from my school years
- GMAT: preparing for it now (aiming for 700+: Is this sufficient?)
Weakness: Don't have formal business background or education in commerce. I have a background in science/healthcare and looking to go into healthcare management.
I would like to aim at top tier schools and hoping to get full scholarships.
Another option I have is that my employer is willing to partially pay for an MBA degree if I pursue it part time and continue working for this company. The only way I can take advantage of this is my looking at part time distance education programs at a low tier school. The reason I say this is because there are no part time programs in my city so I have to look at distance education options. Also, top tier schools cost a lot of money, my employer is willing to pay a few thousand dollars/year.
I think my best option is to aim high on the GMAT and target top tier schools.
Any input or advise?
Thanks!
