Hello, everyone!
I am from Russia and have graduated the best Automobile University in the country. However, at the time of study I was also a full-time professional athlete and played for Junior National Team. This fact, obviously, impacted my overall GPA which is way worse than bad. 2.44. It is the most serious problem in my application.
Regarding GPA. It was calculated using only classes which have grades from 1 to 5 (F to A in the US system). Actually to pass an exam and graduate successfully you can't get anything below 3(C in the US system) for any of your classes. So if you get a 2 for at least one of your classes, you will be expelled from the institution. In my case I graduated successfully with a 3 for every class except for a 5 in English. My overall number of hours is 7826. However, 2053 hours were used on classes where you don't get a grade but get a PASS/NOT PASS thing. And these 25% of classes are not included in my GPA calculation. It is very frustrating because many of them were actually way more difficult than graded classes. Of course they are all listed in my graduate paper with a mark of "PASS".
I've read a bunch of articles and they provide different information. Some of them tell that one can't use such classes in the calculations. Some tell that you can use with a grade of 5, however, the school to which you apply can interpret this score differently and you will be regarded as a fraud.
Any ideas on how to deal with this thing?
I am so nervous about my GPA. Everything else is more or less fine. My goals, my GMAT 730, my background and so on. But this GPA gap seems to overweigh everything else.
