Hi all.

I'm a 28 yo finance professional from Australia, looking to apply for MIT Sloan MBA in 2021 (at 32 yo). I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from my country's top university, however my GPA is very poor (1.9) due to personal issues at the time. Therefore, I have ~3 years to make up for this through further academic studies and professional achievements.

In January next year I will be attending Stanford for a week to complete an Executive Program in Strategic Leadership (sponsored by my employer). I have also enrolled in HBX CORe and will be completing this in mid 2018, aiming for High Honors. I will then apply for and complete a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Australia's top business school (22nd in world according to QS World rankings), and will obviously aim for very high grades.

Hence:
BSc (Applied Mathematics)
Stanford Strategic Leadership Program
HBX CORe
Graduate Diploma Business Administration

Now, in 2019 I would like to complete one of the following programs IF it is likely to further bolster my MIT application (noting that my MBA focus will be social innovation / entrepreneurship). I would welcome any suggestions on which of the following (if any) will have the greatest impact on my application:

Stanford Innovation & Entrepreneurship Certificate (Online program)
Graduate Certificate in Social Impact (1 year course from #1 or #2 business school in Australia, depending on ranking)
Stanford Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship (1 week residential program)
UPenn Executive Program in Social Impact Strategy (8 month online / residential program)

Thoughts / suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

You have already taken more than enough MOOCs . So, I don't think you need to take any more now. Instead, you can focus on increasing your test score and addressing your concern in the optional essay. A 20 pint increase in th GMAT is equivalent to about more than 10 online courses.

The best way to balance a low GPA is with a high GMAT. I don’t see a score listed in your post. But it seems like you have solid coverage in your attempt to create and alternate transcript. I would really double down on your GMAT prep if you have not already achieved a score above the MIT average. This will be your best bet in moving the needle

I think you’re too tunnel-focused on compensating for low GPA. The online courses are peripherals. You’ll make the most impact - and probably in less time – by scoring high on GMAT.

Second, completing courses in area related with your career goal/ concentration is not the best way to build your case. You need to show why you’re interested in it and the best testimony is to actually do something – and not just do a course – in the direction.

Importance of Strategic Planning Courses
Every course is of equal importance to us. As far as Strategic Planning courses are concerned Every Strategic planning closely related to Business success and is very important for Business Startups. The strategic variety involves vision, mission and outside-of-the-box thinking. Strategic planning describes where you want your company to go, not necessarily how you're going to get there. So one who wanted to establish themselves as a Businessman must choose strategic Business planning as one of its courses.
