Hello,

I've applied for Round 2 to a few top programs ranked 8-16, and have a pretty strong record (strong recs, academics, work experience, and diversity), but a low GRE quant score. This afternoon I received a call from an adcom who indicated that I would likely be waitlisted if I did not retake the test. When asked if they cared about the analytical writing/verbal portions, she indicated no, that all that matters at this point is my quant section (getting it up a few points). I now have two weeks to study, and will focus on the quant. During the test, what would your advice be? Can I bomb the other sections and focus on the math?

Let's say I don't score higher, how would I get off the wait list? I have a feeling that this will be the likely result from my other schools.

I have never heard anyone getting a phone-call from an adcom to aver that "you would be waitlisted"
Are you are you are taking about the MBA ?

Anyways -> I would say prepare for both the sections. But focus on the quant part. Do not bomb the other sections.

Yeah, it's for a full-time 2 year MBA. I definitely realize how lucky I am to receive that advice.

[color=#0000ff]I don't think this is so unusual. It means they like you-- and they want you to get a better score-- so take their advice and maybe even invest in a tutor so that you can really do your best in getting a better score! Good luck! They like you or they would not have bothered to call!

I got higher scores on the GMAT that I took after deadline has passed. Can I still submit this? Or I only can submit this when waitlisted and asked to submit?

Hello hellothere88,

There is no harm in submitting the higher score with a cover letter requesting the Ad Com to consider the same. In case there have been any other improvements in your profile since you submitted your application, please include the same as well.

All the best!
