Hello Everyone,
I am looking for some inputs on a brand new school - Asia School of Business (https://www.asb.edu.my )
The first batch actually graduated just last month.
It’s based on KL and started by the central bank of Malaysia. They have a 10 year MOU with MIT to share faculty etc.. but the degree one would get would be from ASB along with a certificate of completion from MIT.
PROs:
1. Situated in Asia, growing market, should help get deeper understanding
2. 60-70% content taught by MIT faculty for batch of 2020
3. New school, almost a startup type environment, open to changes
4. Very Practical course with the MIT action learning focus
5. 100% scholarship
Cons:
1. No known name / brand, future is uncertain
2. Although diverse, the batch size is very small for the class of 2020 - expected to be <50 people
3. Not much data to decide on - first batch graduated last month so overall employment data is not available.
I have been working at Google for 4.5 years and got a 760 in GMAT. I couldn’t make it to any of the top US schools but got through IESE. However, after visiting the campus I was not wowed by it.
Should I even be considering ASB as no one knows where it will go, and what other decision criteria should I use?
Appreciate different thoughts on this, as I only have a few days to decide.

Very interesting question.
First, congrats on great GMAT score and being accepted to ASB.
I am surprised that some of US schools didn't take you.
I think you should def go since that's MIT in Asia, you will get their certificate as you said.
Fact that CB of Malaysia started it guarantees quality along with MIT degree/curriculum/visiting professors.
New campus looks great on picture, I was wondering why you weren't wowed by it, and what exactly you didn't liked ?
Moreover, if brand/quality was questionable for you why did you applied in first place ?
Was it because of MIT ? Was this "safety" school on your list ?
Don't forget 100% scholarship

Here's discussion thread of ASB applicants... https://gmatclub.com/forum/calling-all- ... 49148.html They say ASB students get MIT affiliate alumni status which can be helpful in strengthening your network but it's worth checking whether the companies/industries you are interested in actually recruit at ASB.
