Hi Experts,

I’m a Chartered Accountant with 2.5 yrs of experience of Big 4. As an MBA degree in Finance is a great value addition to a CA degree, I’ve recently started GMAT preparation through Jamboree online classes.
Can anyone please suggest me the B-schools which I should target (keeping in mind that I want to study MBA in Finance)?
What score should I target?
When should I plan to write the exam so that I don’t get late for the applications( i’m already a month into preparation)?

Thanks in advance. I really really need clarity on the above questions.

Hi,

Eventually your GMAT score will play a crucial role in the b-schools you target so it will be difficult to give you a list of b-schools right now. Ofcourse, the rest of your profile will matter equally and we are missing information on your profile right now.

In terms of GMAT score, its beneficial to get a 700+. Again, this depends upon your target schools. Think of a 730+ for the top 15 b-schools. As for the exam, write it when you are most ready. You have another 2-3 months in hand - and an optimum preparation is necessary so that you can minimize your retakes (hopefully get a stellar score in the first attempt itself). In terms of application writing, give yourself atleast 3 months if you are applying to about 5 MBA programs - yes application writing takes time, and the more competitive the program, the more you will have to work upon the application. So try to work your schedule backwards, depending upon the deadline you are targeting (round 1 or round 2).

While your other queries seem to have been addressed, read the post here - there isn't really a minimum GMAT number. If you want this to push your case though, aim for well above 20-30 points compared to your target school's average.
