Hey there,
I'm interested in applying for msred this winter. I would like to know my chance of getting in since I'm coming from a heavy design background.
Top choice: msred at Columbia (I like the size of program and location, I would like to work in NYC/ Asia post grad)
Considering: MIT, Harvard (I'm open to suggestions of other schools)
age:25
undergrad: 5yr B.Arch from RPI
GPA: 3.45 (heavily focused on major related courses and disregarded others)
GMAT: estimate 700+
work experience: by the time of applying, 1.5 years of post-grad exp at a boutique design firm, great involvement in projects, plus ~1 year internship exp at various design firm during school. mostly cultural projects, some residential and mix-use dev.
professional development: looking to complete all arch licensing exams and internship hours before matriculation, might finish LEED if I have time to spare
academic: arch + design awards from school and competitions, research projects, and teaching assistant, student mentor
I had a strong math and science before going into architecture and always been interested in more analytical roles than traditional architecture practice.
After spending the years focused on design, I want to gain solid business/development/finance knowledge. I would like to get into finance/development after the degree.
Would be great if you can rate my odds and give me some suggestions/advice.
Thank you!
