Profile evaluation

Question

I am naval architect (ship designer) and I have 5yrs of professional experience. I have handled 4 projects. Planning to take GMAT in may.Do I have a chance for getting in to IIM's and ISB.
10-85%,12-85%,BTECH-8 CGPA.
PLS tell my chances of getting it.

Hello  VAMSIGUPTA92  ..... welcome to the community.

The information you have provided are little too small to comment.

Below is my little experience: 
i. MBA programs are not much bothered abut your School & High Schools results (unless exceptions - e.g., Board Rankers etc)
ii. your work-ex is rigt at the avg of class - That's good. But again the experience quality counts not the numbers. Thus, I would put effort on my application to articulate the quality of my experience.
iii. The general rule for GMAT score - Be atleast at the median Score of the last admitted class. Saying that, ISB & IIM(s) being Indian program , I would try to be at or above Q48 and score as much as possible at Verbal to get extra edge.

Finally..... I would concentrate on GMAT ... once its done ... then, concentrate on programs & chances.

There are several factors that are considered by adcoms while evaluating your profile. Your academics is only one among them.
Your candidacy would be evaluated for the quality of work experience-leadership experiences and career progression; career goals and why MBA, community leadership and ofcourse your academics, where GMAT is also a big component. Read this article  here

The info provided by you here is not sufficient for us to make any judgment. however, given that you still have 6+ months to go before deadlines, there's a lot you could do to work upon your profile and make it strong on multiple fronts. Reach out if you'd like to discuss.

Happy to help! We like to break different aspects of the application into the following buckets to make everything clearer.
GMAT – You have to target scoring 700+ score if your planning to apply for ISB or IIM's. Since the average score for both the schools is around 700.

Work Experience – You have good and diverse work experience. Since most of the ISB or IIM applicant will be from the Indian IT pool, you may grab extra attention as a Naval architect. It is just not important to reiterate the job profile that you have or the total years of work experience. It is imperative to showcase the achievements and the awesome things that you have done, the initiatives you have taken, various projects and the awards you have received etc.

Education – You have got a good CGPA, but remember the Adcom will not evaluate your profile only based on your academic achievements.

Extra Curricular – Make sure to build the profile in 360^ to tells the ADCOM about your overall personality and helps them relate to a person instead of a resume. Make sure that you bring out your hobbies, voluntary work and achievements outside work in this area. 
Since you have missed out to mention your EC's, it would be helpful if you can tell us more about your extracurricular activities. Knowing your extracurricular activity helps us guide you in a more better way.
