Hello,
I would like to apply for Sept 2019 round of MBA programs.
My GMAT is 770. My GPA is very low, 2.7 but from a top engineering school in North America in Nuclear Engineering.
I am currently enrolled in a masters/phd program but am not interested to continue and want to move out into an MBA as I realized this is not my cup of tea. My GPA for the first semester here is very good. 8 out of 10.
I have about 8 years experience as a management consultant for a boutique consultancy (no brand name) and start up experience with a training institute in providing training in Big Data Analytics.
I am 30 year old, male, India.
Which business schools could I apply to and score an admission? Is there chance of getting scholarship now? I heard some schools offer scholarships to high Gmat scorers. I am open to both, US and Europe.

- The exact nature of your profile is a bit unclear. Are you enrolled into a full-time program or part-time one? Are you doing consulting now or startup? Also, current geography? So do share.
- GPA matters and a high score will help offset it to some extent; read here for more on how to manage low GPA.
- It will be important also to understand your post-MBA plans as well weaving the career transitions/choices into a compelling story. So think hard and deep on that front.
- For reasons mentioned here, we do not speculate on school selection. That being said, GMAT is not the only criteria for scholarship at most/all schools. It is a far more holistic assessment of your overall candidature. In general though, lower you target, better are the prospects for it.

Lets start with the positive: Your GMAT is stellar and should open the door for a number of schools in the 20-30 range that care greatly about lifting their average GMATs. While it is impossible to predict scholaship money, your score alone could open up these types of opportunities. But you'll have to convice a school with an average GMAT of 660-690 why someone with a 770 really wants to attend, so i recommend networking hard with admissions (attend fairs, visit campus, reach out to current students, etc.).
How did your GPA compare to that of your classmates? If 2.7 was close to average, then it's easily explainable to admissions. If it's not, were there extenuating circumstances which led to the low GPA?
