Hi,
When I was a senior in my undergrad (Canadian University) I was involved with an academic misconduct - basically I wasn't prepared for a test and I lied about what day I went to go see the doctor. My prof called the clinic to check and discovered I had lied. I got a 0 in my class and was suspended for a semester.
It just really stupid thing to do and I have no excuses for why I acted this way and I regret it immensely. My overall GPA from that school is also really low (like 2.7).
However, this happened about 7-8 years ago. Since then I have completed another undergrad degree and achieved a 3.9 cGPA WHILE working full time. I have about 5 years of professional work experience, as well as 5 years of community service. My GMAT is around a 760. I have tried everything I possibly can to prove that I am not the same person as I was 7 years ago.
I was wondering what my chances at an MBA school (either in Canada or USA) would be? Do you think my academic dishonesty would out right reject me or would I have some chance at a few of the top schools?
I appreciate any advice that anyone could give me!

It's hard to say whether or not this would disqualify you from a top MBA program, but I suspect that AdComs have seen worse and forgiven it. This is really a great spot for you to use to optional essay to describe the circumstances, own your mistake, and discuss how you have learned and grown. You'll need to show a maturity and higher level of integrity throughout the rest of your application, and I'd suggest coaching your recommenders to hint at your character in their letters.
With your strong GMAT and track record of improvement in academics, I don't think you're prohibited from a program. You may just be subject to variance in how the different AdComs view your situation.

You have been honest in admitting your mistake. B schools are not looking for mistake free individuals . They are seeking people who take ownership of their mistake, learn from it, and evolve into mature and responsible people.
You are not the same person who made this mistake 8 years back. Since then, you have made great strides in all areas : academics ( second undergrad with a 3.9 GPA and a 760 GMAT) , work experience and voluntary work.
You should definitely use optional essay to explain this mistake and the lessons you learned from it. Your subsequent achievements are testimony to your hard work and capabilities, so I don't think the schools will penalize you for this one mistake you made 8 years back.
