Hello
FortunaAdmissionsMJI got to know that
Fortuna Admissions has experience in dealing with JAPAN MBA aspirants, hence I was asked to seek your advice. I have just received my GMAT score and managed a respectable 780. I already have a TOEFL score of 108. My story is a bit peculiar and I would be indebted if you could give me some clarity because my head is in a deep muddle right now.
My AGE will be 32 by the time I join, next year.My profile -
Class X - 92%
Class XII - 91.25%
Graduation (B.Tech) - 83% (which translates to 3.5+ GPA. Some online translator showed 3.76 but I haven't gone through WES yet. So let's just say, 3.5)
Extra Curriculars - Lots to write in this field
Work Experience - 37 months
(11 months in IT as an Assistant Software Engineer,
10 months In Real Estate as an Assistant Manager (Marketing),
16 months in an Junior Associate Business Consultant role in a startup)THEN.... I veered off into an unconventional path. I had appeared for my GMAT in 2015 too and was preparing for my US MBA (hence the varied work-ex to find out what my true calling was before I set foot in the US) when I cleared a tryout to play soccer in the Indian Soccer League. Being a soccer crazy guy since my childhood, I just couldn't pass that up. Since then, I have been playing soccer for the past 5 years in India's National Soccer League (Division - 1 & 2). I guess I got more ambitious as I played more and more matches & started dreaming of playing for the National Team someday.
Now, an injury has pretty much ruined my soccer dream. Also, latest developments suggest that the future of Indian Soccer is very bleak. As such, I have started thinking of an alternative before it is too late --> An MBA, followed by some Strategy/Consulting experience (to learn how problems are dealt with in the highest echelons of the industry, deals are made and most importantly, network with the biggest investors in the industry), followed by my eventual dream of starting my own Sports Management Group to sign promising players of the future. Japan & China are a hotbed of soccer talents (though I aim to focus on other sports as well) that has not been tapped properly yet & I would love to exploit that. Because of this very reason, I am limiting my target B-Schools to these Asian Sporting Powerhouses. I was looking at Mendoza's MS/MBA in Business Analytics too but my chances of scholarship there seem to be pretty bleak with my profile.
While the information about other target schools like HKUST, NUS and INSEAD is readily available, the information about the Japanese MBA programs is very scant.
So my query to you is this -->1) China and Japan seem to offer a lot of attractive full-tuition scholarships to international applicants (basically steer them away from the West). A full tuition waiver would be huge relief to me & my family. So, I wanted to ask you, based on your experience, what do you think of my chances of scholarship in JAPAN specifically?? My search shows me that Hitotsubashi, Waseda & IUJ are the best in Japan.
2) How difficult will it be for an international applicant with a weird profile like mine to land a job in Japan after MBA (obviously my MBA GPA has to be stellar, that is a given)? Is there any chance of a recruiter actually finding my story interesting?
I am really banking on you to give me some clarity before I jump headlong into the application process.....
