**MBA Info**
* Why I want an MBA: I am interested in getting a PM role in a biotech company/ advancing my "career" in the analytics side of the healthcare industry. I am also interested in doing consulting in related industries, before transitioning to working directly for a biotech/healthcare company.
* Why I want one now: Since I am interested in Deferred Admissions, I plan to work a couple years in the healthcare industry in an analytics role before starting an MBA.
* Target schools: CBS, Wharton
**Background**
Work experience:
* Analytics Intern at a top-ish healthcare system (will continue my employment with them as a Business Intelligence analyst post-grad)
* Formerly a Product Intern at a Fortune 100 Company
* Formerly a Data Management Student Assistant at my university
* Formerly a Finance Student Assistant at my university
Extra curricular and other experience:
* Worked on a data analytics consulting project with a national automotive service provider/ auto insurance company
* Served as a Peer Mentor for my undergrad program
* Part of an event committee that planned student org events
Undergrad school/major:
* Large state school, top 60
* Major: Finance, Minor: Business Analytics
Other education/coursework: I took a decent amount of analytics related online courses/certificates, but not really relevant

**Stats**
* GMAT Score: 760 (Q 50, V 41)
* Undergrad GPA: 3.57, pretty mediocre I know, but I think I can bring it up to a 3.6, even though that probably won't help much
* Rec Letters: I have a manager from a previous internship that will write me a pretty strong rec letter, but my second one (professor) will be relatively weak (does not know me that well). I am wondering if I could include my "performance review" from my current employer as an additional document (I am not comfortable letting my current company know of my future plans yet), it is a really positive review, with a strong emphasis on my soft skills, but I don't know if this is appropriate
I don't know if this will sound like an excuse to adcom, but my dad passed away during my freshman year, and a friend from school took his life a couple months later, which were major factors that brought my grade down. But my GPA has a upward trajectory, with a 3.97 last semester and a 4.0 major GPA, and I think I can keep this momentum going through this school year.
To clarify why I am a Finance major but am trying to transition into analytics in healthcare: my dad got his diagnosis at the end of my freshman year, he was given 3 months but passed away after just 1 month. He suffered a lot that last couple of months and really got me rethinking what I want to do in the future. I read a lot about how analytics is transforming healthcare, driving efficiency, improving patience experience, etc, and that is when I decided I wanted to do analytics in healthcare/biotech. With my current job/internship, I realized how limited it is to the things that an analyst can do, and would like to pursue an MBA to transition into a managerial position so I can have a bigger impact.
I know I don't really have a traditional profile for a deferred MBA, not super high-achieving and don't have the best internships. I feel like it is a stretch for me to get into these schools, so I would like your input if this is even worth a shot.

Thanks for sharing your profile! I think you've accomplished a number of incredible things given the personal hardships, and would say you'd be a solid candidate for deferred admissions almost anywhere, especially with a 760 + 4.0 major GPA. Your story and reason for moving into biotech makes a lot of sense, and has a personal tinge to it which is always nice.
I'd say there's no harm in applying now and you don't gain admission, you can go the traditional route. Do you plan to use an admissions consultant for your applications? Happy to have a convo offline about your profile!
