Hi Paul,
Please evaluate my chances for a full time MBA at LBS.
- Indian female, 31 years, settled in UK, working mother(full time) of 2 small children.
- IT Consultant with about 8 years experience in the industry as a developer/ technical team lead, good client list.
- Looking for a change from my 9 - 6 job, decided on a venture to promote Indian hand made goods. Mother-in-law runs a successful small scale industry employing over 80 women, a name well known in local market. Would like to take on this responsibility and give it a global presence. Already done some market research for our products, talked to some potential buyers, developed online presence for the venture. Aim is to start off with hand embroidery and slowly diversify into various other hand made artefacts and finally, create a brand for hand made goods.
- Charity work: Worked for a school for handicapped children during summer terms at the university. Actively work on organizing funds for the education of children in need.
- Leadership: Successfully managed teams in IT projects. Implementing the procedures for the current venture of handwork. Organised arts/ literary events in University. Successfully manage family with career. I have two small children and a responsible full time job which I balance very well.
- Activities: Sports - represented my state in all India level for Carroms ( a popular game in India and few other countries.. unfortunaltely not AS popular as football/basketball

) Arts - Active participation in various music and dance festivals. Have performed solo for an audience of 500+. Last year was a judge for a UK Talent Contest for Music and Dance for a very popular Indian TV channel.
- Did undergraduation in Electrical Engineering from an average university, passed with a distinction which is the top 5% of the university. Am not sure how to calculate my GPA. GMAT - 690.
Please can you tell me what are my realistic chances of getting into LBS? What are the factors I need to be concentrating on. What are the strengths/weaknesses in my profile? If you think LBS is a long shot, then what other schools can you recommend for me considering that I cannot relocate from London.
Does it help/ harm to mention the following:
1) url of my website in the essays which explains more about the aims of my venture.
2) That my inspiration is my mother-in-law who was named the woman entrepreneur of the year 2005.
3) Husband is a graduate of Chicago - GSB. Though easier for me to get in there with strong alumini recomendations, prefer LBS for its strong focus for entrepreneurial ventures.
References - My experience has been in IT. But my aim is something else. So whose references would best fit my profile.
Thank you very much for your help.
Regards, Remgeo
