Hello! I hope you’re doing well. I am facing a dilemma right now that might prove to be very costly for me. I recently got an offer of admission from NUS Business School. I can’t be happier. NUS is an incredible school. Yet, I have also applied to London School of Economics, which is my dream school for as long as I can remember. Now, the NUS guys want me to submit an acceptance fee of around ten thousand Singaporean dollars by mid-May or let the offer go.

The problem is that I am yet to hear from LSE and, a part from being unavailable for a quick response, LSE seems to be really slow in meeting out decisions. Sure LSE has thousands of applications to process and I totally get it but the fact that there is no avenue for a quick, direct communication with LSE graduate office could prove disastrous in some cases.

As long as I don’t hear from LSE, I won’t be able to make the right decision. Maybe I submit the acceptance fee at NUS and then hear from LSE the next day, costing me ten grands in process. That would be a nightmare!

Please guide me, experts, as to what should I do in this predicament. I want to make the right decision that could have humongous consequences for my life and career.

Really looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Sincere regards.

Hello Louis14,
Hope you are doing fine.
Congratulations on your admission to NSU! First and foremost you have to analyze and get to know how important it’s for you to do an MBA this year. If you really feel the need to do an MBA this year, which may be out of work or personal reasons, NUS is the right choice for you. You can always do exchange programs over there and get a good sense of knowledge. If you could wait, then you can wait for the most suited b-school for you. But the most suited business school is the one that aligns with your goals and values, not the highest-ranking b-schools. Analyze yourself and try to find the answer. If you feel that LSE is the most suited, then the best decision is to wait. But if you find LSE and NUS are similar or LSE slightly not better, then maybe go for NUS.

Hey! Thanks for your time and feedback. As I mentioned in my post, I am an MSc Finance candidate, not an MBA one. I guess you mistook me for that. Would you still say the same as above?
