Hi
UsedBlackberry5,
Thanks for sharing. Military experience is definitely appreciated and will help your applications. The leadership experience you have is very hard to get in the corporate world and the admissions committee appreciates that. However, it can sometimes be challenging to translate these experiences into essays so
Personal MBA Coach can certainly help here.
Realistically, you will want to secure a higher GMAT if you are targeting the M7s, or even top 10-20 schools. While naturally this varies from school to school, it is becoming less common to see students earn admission to these schools with a GMAT score below 700.
If you are looking to give the GMAT another attempt,
Personal MBA Coach offers
customized tutoring services to help you maximize your score. Our tutors have scored in the 99th+ percentile on the GMAT/GRE exams and are graduates of MIT, Harvard, UPenn, Yale, Columbia and more (plus, most have 780+ and even perfect scores).
I would be curious to learn more about your professional and volunteer roles since additional management/leadership experience will help enhance your candidacy.
Feel free to send a note to scott
PersonalMBACoach if you are looking for guidance with test prep and/or customized application support. We work with a lot of folks in investment banking, as well as many candidates with military experience, and would be happy to help set you up for success!

Hello all,
I recently took the gmat and got significantly less than my recent practice tests. So wanted to get opinions on my options.
Background: Veteran from a special operations unit. Got my degree while in the military from an online program. Purdue to be exact. Interned at a private equity firm when getting out and now work as an analyst at a middle market investment banking firm.
GPA: 4.0 but had a less than stellar gpa before joining the military at a different university, averages to a 3.3
GMAT: 660 q: 46 v: 35
Multiple volunteer experiences.
Want to apply by first round for M7’s this year but not sure with my gmat score. Going to retake but looking at where I currently stand.
Thank you.
