Hi pranav7673,

Thank you for sharing your profile. Starting with stats, your undergrad scores are good, and you have a solid GMAT score. Your navy background will undoubtedly offer you an edge in terms of diversity and telling a distinct narrative. Your work demonstrates a wide range of expertise and knowledge in a variety of tasks. I believe you have a great story to tell. Your Navy experience appears to be good, with aspects of leadership (which I can see in your Achievements as well). Overall, your experience may undoubtedly help you stand out and demonstrate great leadership (especially the Pulwama incident) if you are able to express it effectively. For your post-MBA goals, MIT, ROSS, INSEAD, and HEC would be the best pick. If you’d like, you can read the story of a military candidate who got into ISB and Schulich after 15 years of military experience. It may help you better relate, and you will get some valuable observations.

Overall, yours is an impressive profile with a vibrant personality, and make sure you exhibit this in your applications. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and guide you in understanding what these schools look for in candidates. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Cheers!

Hi pranav7673,

Thank you for your post. Your profile certainly has some strong suits.

First, military experience is definitely appreciated and will help your application. The leadership experience you have is very hard to get in the corporate world and the admissions committee appreciates that. What schools are you considering applying to? Military candidates often trend older, so your age should not be an issue if you are considering US programs (where students often have an average of 5 years of work experience).

Your GMAT is quite strong, though you may consider aiming to break 750 if you are interested in the M7s.

Looking at your accomplishments and interests, you will want to think about how you can frame these in the context of your overall story. Successful applications share a consistent and impactful story: MBA admissions committees should instantly see who you are, what has defined you and why you have made specific choices.

Personal MBA Coach works with a lot of military applicants and if you are interested in talking about how we can work together on your applications, feel free to reach out to [email protected]. We would be happy to help you translate your experience into your essays and set you up for success!

Best,
Personal MBA Coach
