Hi,
Could you please evaluate my profile for London Business School?
Background: 25, Male, British Citizen
GMAT Score: 750 (Q51 V40 IR8)
Education:
- Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering from a Top 30 college in India with an Average GPA
- Attended Summer School at London School of Economics - Studied Marketing and received an 'A' grade
Extra-curriculars:
Let a team of 20 in a street theatre group and travelled across India performing plays
Won more than 40 awards for our performances and even received a full scholarship for Acting school (Did not take up the offer though)
Our plays were satirical accounts of issues plaguing our society and were aimed at raising awareness on such topics
Work Experience:
Total work ex = 3 years
1. Tata Motors:
- Worked for 8 months as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in the Sales & Marketing division
- Travelled across 8 cities to create a customer testimonial video that was adopted by all offices in the State to show to customers
2. ZS Associates:
- Worked on Sales & Marketing operations for one of the largest Pharma companies in the world
- Regularly consulted Senior Directors on product launches for new drugs
- Won awards such as 'Client Innovator' and 'Star Learner'
- Promoted in 2 years (Among one of the fastest promotions - Usually takes 2.5 to 3 years)
Volunteer Work:
- Started an initiative called Mission Santa around last year to fundraise for an Orphanage by Christmas
- Raised enough money to cover 2 months of rent and also collected 500 items of clothing, books and toys
- Also created a website for the Orphanage
I'm confused whether I should apply this year in R2 or I should wait for a year and apply in September 2022 for a 2023 intake. Any guidance is appreciated.

Overall, it looks like you have a solid profile, and Tata is a well-known company. Your extracurricular/ volunteer experience is interesting as well and you will want to frame this in a way that gels with your overall story. Your leadership experience both in your professional and extracurricular roles will also help enhance your candidacy.
Where else are you considering along with LBS? As competition increases and acceptance rates fall, candidates are now applying to 5 to 8 schools on average.
In terms of when to apply, think about where you stand in your current role. If you are bored at work and feel that you have learned all you can in this role, this is a good sign that now might be the time to think about an MBA. If you feel you are close to plateauing, now might also be the time to apply. Keep in mind it will still be another 18 months until you are likely to enroll.
Additionally, you should consider your personal situation. Going back to school full-time is a major lifestyle change and your personal circumstance should be a key factor in your decision on when to apply. If late 2022 is shaping up to be a good time for you to become a student, R2 could be the right choice for you.
