Hello and I hope anyone who’s reading this is safe, healthy and generally coping well.
I’m requesting this profile evaluation since I haven’t come across others who have a similar background. The Columbia GSB J-Term and LBS are pretty much the only schools I’m considering and I thought I would get an opinion before I went ahead with the applications.
I’m Indian and possess a first-class honours degree in Economics from a top-5/10 (seems to vary by year) Indian undergraduate institution alongside a Master’s degree in Comparative Political Economy from the LSE.
I just turned 34 which, I’m aware, makes me an older candidate. I’ve scored a 324 on the GRE (164-V, 160-Q).
Over the last 5.5 years, I’ve been working in the field of public and development policy. My employers have included a global non-profit for whom I worked across South Asia and the BRICS countries and a development consultancy specialising in the intersection of technology and inclusive finance. Through these stints, I’ve managed the Indian/South Asian chapters of multi-country programmes backed by international donors including the Gates Foundation and the European Commission, among others. Additionally, I’ve worked as a journalist for 4 years for two of India’s three largest English newspapers where I reported on rural development, trade and politics.
My thematic engagements have included public finance, global governance, agriculture, and labour. My functional expertise lies in project/programme management, research design and policy analysis, and developing advocacy strategies.
I’m happy to go into more detail including why I’m applying for an MBA now but I wasn’t sure that was needed to evaluate the profile itself. That said, I’m happy to provide more details.
Many thanks in advance for your help!
