Hi
Alphabetrium,
Thanks for reaching out! Are you hoping to apply to deferred MBA programs? It sounds like you could be a good candidate given your leadership experience and academic achievements.
Strong deferred candidates have a clear sense of their career goals as well, though this often comes only after working together with a consultant on the applications. Have you started to think about your post-MBA goals? This will likely influence your decision regarding a switch in roles/companies, so we would like to get to know a bit more about these goals.
While consulting can be a great industry for starting your career and gaining strong pre-MBA experience and exposure, it is also a competitive field with many MBA applicants. Naturally, finance is also a popular pre-MBA industry.
If you feel that MBB consulting would give you stronger opportunities to stand out as a leader and leverage analytical and/or out-of-the-box thinking than the bulge bracket, this is an important factor to consider.
Personal MBA Coach provides
deferred MBA packages, as well as
early planning packages, to help folks navigate big decisions like this.
Feel free to send a note to

Best,

Hi!
I would really appreciate if I could get some guidance about a switch in roles/companies.
Context: I am a final year undergrad and accepted an offer from a Bulge Bracket Bank (CS/DB) after a summer stint. The role is middle-office; work is decent but not client-facing. Since I am decided I would like to pursue an M7 MBA particularly H/W/S, should I look to switch to MBB or some tier-2 consulting firm (ATK/EYP) instead? From what I researched - middle office roles don't fare as well as others. As for sectors, I would be indifferent between consulting and finance.
Other stats in the application are nice - 9.62/10 GPA (4.0, converted) from the best commerce college in India. Multiple leadership positions at school and undergrad. Lots of competition wins, multiple publications in college journals, a few social initiatives and pro-bono consulting projects and the like.
Any advice will be a lot of help, thanks in advance!
