First of all let me thank you and your team for giving valuable advices to many aspirants............
Please be little bit patient bcoz my profile is puzzling....................
I am going to rely completely on your advice.
I am from India and I have done my B.Sc.
O.K let me be more clear.......
It is equivalent to 10+2+3.
I scored 75% in my 10th standard, 79% in +2 and 91% in my +3.
I completed my B.Sc in 2001. After that i joined a Post Graduate Program in India, but unfortunately i met with an accident and i was bed-ridden for almost 8 months. So i was unable to continue my Post Grad and bcoz of my financial status i was forced to work.
So I started working in T.I.M.E, an educational institute which trains students for GRE, GMAT and CAT. I am one of their top faculty who teaches CAT (By the way CAT is a National Entrance for the Management education in India, supposed to be the one of the toughest entrance in the world). I teach Quantitative Aptitude for the CAT test-takers.
I was paid high as I was very good in my job. Right now, I earned some money and i want to pursue MBA from U.S. I have taken a Kaplan test yesterday and i scored 680 without any preparation. I am weak in English and i am sure if i concentrate on the verbal part i can cross 700 comfortably.
Since i want to prepare for GMAT and i am very busy with my job in T.I.M.E, i started working only part-time. Meanwhile i got a chance to work in a locally reputed engineering college as a full-time faculty member to teach the quantitative aptitude for the final year eng grad so that they can be placed in the IT companies over here.
So right now i am working as a full-time faculty member in an Engineering college besides working as a part-time faculty in T.I.M.E.
Since i am not that busy in college, i can prepare for about 6-8hrs/day.
I also have a bond with the college for the next two years. So i am planning to take GMAT somewhere around 2008 NOV i.e i have 2 complete years for preparation. Meanwhile i want to take the original test once in 2007 so that i can assess myself..........
Now here are my questions.
1. Is my 10+2+3 a disadvantage to get into top schools?
2. I do not have any extra- curricular activities.......so is it a disadvantage?
3. I have a work experience from 2002-till date ie 4 years and of course 2 more years to go. So i am going to have 6 years of work experience. But since the work experience is from Education field, are my chances low compared to other work experienced people?
4. Is this work experience from a private educational institute considered to be valuable?
5. Is the work experience that i am going to get for the next two years from a engineering college valuable?
6. I am 26 years old already and i am planning to wait for 2 more years, i.e i am going to be 28 years old.......Is it OK?
Hi , please be patient to answer my queries, i am going to rely completely on the advice given by the experienced people like u bcoz at the end of the day i do not have any other sources of information.....
Also please do suggest me the Universities which i should aim at based upon my profile and the work experience...........

Must DO:
1) GMAt prep requires you to study for 6 weeks in a planned and dedicated manner. I had no coaching whatsoever studies kaplan and og for 6 weeks, did the powerprep software thouroughly and got 730
2 of my roomies did the same (700 and 750 respectively)
prefer it the other way round
2) Though 10+2+3 is not directly a disadavantage, some schools do view just BSc as a limited accademic study
3) What schools are you aiming for? it depends on that
4) Complete your masters get 16 + years of study and do very well in ur masters
like top 5 perecent of class
5) Publish research papers in journals (This adds to your accademic brilliance)

join some non profit organisation/volunteer work which might be easier to crack in. This will look good

1. It depends on how competitive your schools were and what the percentages you gave mean in terms of your class ranking. Undergraduate grades are weighted more heavily by B-schools than grad school work. If your undergrad GPA is the equivalent of a "B+" of higher and your GMAT score is in the 700 range, you should be fine.
2. Yes, it is. Look for leadership (not just participation) opportunities outside of work.
3. You are not necessarily at a disadvantage if your work experience is in education, so long as the quality of the work experience is good (i.e., high impact, leadership, good institution) and you were working full-time. I do think the schools will be skeptical of someone whose work experience is in the GMAT prep field, however, since that may show a one-dimensional preoccupation with getting into B-school.
4. Depends again on the nature of the teaching experience. The schools won't care if it was a private or a public institution as long as its a quality institution and you were teaching bona fide academic subjects.
5. Yes. I recommend seeking out every possible opportunity you can get to show your leadership: faculty committees, mentoring student clubs, etc. Your challenge will be (a) showing schools that you have as much managerial exposure as traditional applicants and (b) convincing them that you have gained enough exposure to business while teaching to know why you need an MBA.
6. 28 is fine.
I can't mention any B-schools because you didn't state your post-MBA goals.
