Hi. Sorry about the GMAT. That’s a bummer.
I don’t think any of these would be negatives but it really depends on how you positioned them and present them.
One month gap is completely negligible. With pandemic and other issues going on, it is not uncommon to have 6 months of a gap or even a year. That's more concerning but it happens - people move countries, visa offices lock down, etc and you are stuck. Things happen.
One potential challenge is if you’re only have six months of history in a company, it will be hard for your supervisor to write a recommendation letter that asks for a piece of advice that they have given you and how you had responded to it. At the same time, I guess you could ask them for some advice early on… 😬 but again it may be tricky.
A lot depends on what your goals are and what your essays will say. If your goal is to manage a big team and you take a job that doesn’t have managing any people, that’s a conflicting piece of information. At the same time, if you the goal is to to switch into finance and the new role is in finance, then it makes more sense.
Ideally, you want to show career progression and growth and switching jobs is totally appropriate. Some people apply to business school but choose not to pursue it because their job is so good they get a very sweet offer… so life is OK! Schools actually prefer to pluck people form life rather than having someone who is building up to bschool and it is make or break type of a situation.
