Hi everyone,
I recently gave my first attempt at the GMAT and scored a 710 ( Q51V34 IR8 AWA5). I am a final-year student at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. I was looking for some consultants who can help me in the application process. I am planning to apply to the top 7 US B schools open to deferred MBA programs.
1) HBS 2+2
2) Stanford Deferred Enrolment
3) Wharton Deferred Admission MOELIS ADVANCE ACCESS PROGRAM
4) Columbia Business Deferred MBA
5) MIT Sloan Early Admission
6) Chicago Booth Scholars program
7) Yale SOM Silver scholars program
I know I would need to improve my score because the median score of the admits is 730+ in these schools but I would like to start with my application.
I will be taking my second attempt in February for an improvement in the score. Meanwhile, if anyone could please let me know where I can find consultants at a reasonable price because I am only a student.
My mock test scores were as follows:
GMAT Prep-Official Practise Exam-1: 710 ( Q50V37 )
GMAT Prep-Official Practise Exam-2: 720 ( Q50V39 )
GMAT Prep-Official Practise Exam-3: 740 ( Q51V39 )
GMAT Prep-Official Practise Exam-4: 710 ( Q51V34 )

GMAT First Attempt: 710 ( Q51V34 IR8 AWA5)
Prep Time: I started discontinuously preparing for 8 months. Less than 10 hours per week but in the last month before my first attempt I became more serious and started studying 5 hours a day.
Any suggestion on how to improve would be appreciated.

It is delightful to see applicants working diligently towards their goals. 710 is a decent score, however, any improvement in the score will work towards strengthening your application. Apart from the GMAT score, AdComs look for other parameters like your GPA, Internships, ECs, essays and LORs.
Belonging to a prestigious institute like IIT Kharagpur will already highlight your profile. Having a look at your mock scores, it is evident that you are a student of high caliber and if practiced thoroughly, you can enhance your score by 30-40 points. I strongly suggest aiming for 730+.
Since deferred programs are a major attraction these days, competition is high, we know you might be on your toes to give your best to the AdComs. It is very important to cater to all the parameters an AdCom looks for in a candidate. You may want to read an article on, “What AdComs look for in Deferred MBA candidates” , you will get some insights.
We have recently helped an applicant to get into Wharton & Columbia Deferred MBA program At first, he was not very serious about his chances but with right confidence and amazing application he got into top schools.
Overall your profile seems good on the surface, but we would like to know more to gauge your chances better. It all depends on how you connect the dots and create a compelling story around it.
