Following is my profile :
Male, 24, (will be 25 in fall 08) , wedding planned in summer 07.
Nationality - Indian (Singapore Permanent Resident)
GMAT : 770 (took it in jan 07)
Education : Undergrad in Singapore, Computer Engineering - 2nd lower honours (which I understand translates to a B grade..which is about a 3.0)
came to Singapore on part sponsorship of the Singapore Govt..
Extra Cirriculars in college :
1. Student Union leader - Elected by student population of 16,000 - was involved in a whole load of union activities, was editor of the campus newspaper - Dealt with a whole load of student politics crises..
2. President of the Entrepreneurship Club - Defined a new direction for the club in the post dot com era towards broader arenas.. and involved youth from diverse schools, .. interacted with many entrepreneurs..
This led to an active involvement in an international Social Entrepeneurship movement that fosters entrepreneurship as a means of development. and poverty alleviation.. ., (SIFE).. represented Singapore, and won an international competitions beating teams from 15-20 countries...
3. represented the university as member of the debating team.
Work Ex : Will be 4 years in june 2008.
Working in a oil major(fortune top 5) as a sales executive / trader for commodity and speciality petrochemicals esp growing new market- India..handling profits in excess of 10 million. Responsibilities have grown rapidly..no direct reports, but manage many national level distributors and contractors..
Extensive travel in Asian region..
collaborated in a couple of IT startups..though nothing really came of any of them, I have gained significant insights into innovation..
worked in many odd jobs in college to support myself..
Volunteerism : still actively involved in the SIFE movement..coaching youth, organizing programs...
done the occasional red cross fund raising activity..
completed a triathlon.
do i have a serious shot at the top 7 schools ? do advise which schools i should be looking at.

Ashaker,
Yes, I believe you do have a shot at the top 7 (depending of course on whose top 7 you're referring to). You didn't mention goals so this is sort of a generic response based on what I know of your profile but I think your odds are best at Chicago, Michigan, MIT, and Wharton and lowest at Stanford and HBS. You have a strong profile though so I would anticipate one or more top 7 schools admitting you.
