Hi Paul,
My profile is:
Target – Sloan fellows programme (preferably at LBS – because of my interest and goal of working in finance and the international environment), IMD, INSEAD, IBS
Objective – to work as financial consultant/advisor in international development/financial agencies in development/microfinance area ( so specialized with a Ph.D in the area of microfinance). Want to get a good international degree in finance from a reputed institution (elite to near elite)
Education: B.A(Economics), Delhi University(59%), M. A (economics – 65 %), UGC – junior research fellowship, Ph. D. (thesis submitted-Strategic Management, Microfinance Institutions, sustainable Development); Diploma in business finance ; Certified associate of IIB (Indian institute of Bankers). Indicative of constant up-gradation of my faculties
Work Experience: more than 12 years in the government financial sector – commercial lending, customer relationships, capacity and institution building; part time teaching on financial subjects/economics; delivered lectures over radio; honorary consultant to state financial institution in restructuring; specific recovery of earlier finances assets gone bad(NPAs); transformed a loss making office of the state to a profit making one
Extra-curricular/leadership: Published fiction writer (poem and short stories), Taekwondo – state championship for three years, partially trained yoga practitioner; community development – working for the welfare of ex-servicemen and associated with the development programmes of NGOs; associated with a number of sports and cultural activities in school and college.
Leadership – member of the state committee presenting before the parliamentary committee of the nation and highly recommended on the implementation of govt. policy; led the branch of my organization a state and helped the organization get recognition by the state government. As early as a few months back, I used my experience to transform and restructure the mess run by students to become more efficient.
I am also at a loss what to emphasize and what to hold back.
Please advice.
Which schools should I target? What are my chances for the Sloan fellow and/or for the full time MBA at elites? Is my higher education an advantage or disadvantage? Thanks
