Dear SIDDHARTH66,

Considering that you mentioned that you are looking to apply to US and EU schools primarily and keeping in mind your academic credentials and the fact that you have been involved with policy making and developing grass root level strategies for the mass, below are the school recommendations.

USA:
- Georgetown
- Emory Goizeuta
- Duke Fuqua
- Darden
- Kenan Flager

EU:
- IE
- LBS
- SAID
- JUDGE

Do note that most of your experience has been with the public sector and in India. The obvious question ad com will have in mind while reviewing your application would be how you will be able to adapt and contribute in the private sector in a foreign country. Please make sure that in your application, you demonstrate all the transferable skillsets you will leverage from your pre-MBA experience in your post MBA career. On similar lines, explicitly provide examples how you will add value to the Peer To Peer interaction in your cohort comprising of students from different industries and different geographies.

I have been guiding MBA Applicants successfully crack global business programs over the last 6+ years. Please feel free to reach (details in signature) out if you seek professional guidance.

Cheers and wish you all the very best !!

SIDDHARTH66, a few thoughts on your profile evaluation and plans.

  1. The academic arc is a bit unclear since you've not mentioned college name/pedigree or GPA. The GMAT score is ok and hard to tell more - one can usually add 20-30 points to a given school's average to get a sense of the Indian GMAT average. So, that could be a starting point.
  2. The professional profile is alright given the nature of your work. I am going to assume you aren't on a break (doubting since you mentioned 2023 and not 'present'). Policy making is usually not directly transferrable in terms of post-MBA roles - make sure you show a clear sense on the need and rationale for MBA, as well as bring out other aspects of your work, beyond policy creation too. In our experience, the transition from government to private is also best managed with India - provided of course you are ok with life/career here. May want to keep that in consideration.
  3. The tuition effort helps on the volunteer front. You'll have to bring out clear quantification and impact to get the right mileage from it though. Association with an NGO can help ramp things up, if not done so already.
  4. For reasons mentioned here, we don't speculate on school selection or chances. That being said, with the right selection and more importantly, a well reasoned application, you should have decent overall prospects.

Hope this helps some. Do feel free to reach out with a resume and other queries directly on the email below.

Cheers,

Wow. Lots of folks weighing in.

I would say that getting into HSW is very hard for anyone. It is not a given.

There are lots of very competitive applicants. However, if you get in, usually paying for school is a less arduous task as there are scholarships and a variety of funding options available. Getting in is really really hard.

Very true there,
For the over-represented pool of an Indian, Male, B.Sc from an un-named college, un specified CGPA, 700 GMAT, when consultants assure of scholarships with Harvard, Wharton, Stanford, Kellogg, MIT, LBS, HEC etc, it is a clear sign of consultant's desperation to get clients with promises that are clearly not feasible.

Good Admission Consultants can often play the role of mentors for life; however in cases as can be seen below, Consultants can also play unethical games of promising the Sun and the moon, and ultimately end-up sullying the reputation of the Admissions Consultants in general.

bb Would love your comments on how aspirants to top schools can check on the reputation and past successes of consultants before believing them.
