Hi,
I have got a very low score in GMAT (460) and have got acceptance from University of New Haven(STEM) and University of Massachusetts Dartmouth ( NON STEM) for MBA with only one year of work experience. So, should apply for a MS course (STEM designated) in a reputed University such as Purdue, Michigan State University due to low work experience or proceed with University of New Haven's STEM MBA? Please suggest.

Hi

This decision should be taken carefully:
- Are your career objectives met through an MBA or an MS? If it is the MBA, you may also want to consider MiM programs as they too can give you management education, and many more of them are offering waivers right now. Your one year of experience too will sit well with MiM programs though it may not with many MBA programs.
- If you go down the MBA route for other programs, you will find limited options as you will need to apply with a waiver, and not many schools would consider an applicant with just one year of experience.
- You should always speak to current students to determine future prospects, especially for sub-30 rank MBA programs.

I don't know what your demographics and other profile characteristics are but purely on GMAT score, I can tell you MSU may not be a good school to apply to because it is a little beyond stretch.

I am going to retake the exam and then try for the MS options

Hello Ssklmkr,

To retake the test and apply for MS programs is definitely the correct approach.

Thanks.
